Who Wants to Go Watch the Canes? « Result #5 on Nov 11, 2009, 5:45pm »
Hey All, Just checking the pricing on groups sales for Hurricanes games. Discounts are decent for groups of 10 or more. I was thinking that 10 of us could pitch in and rent a big van and head down to see the Canes one night. We could go cheap and sit in the balcony for $38 a ticket, or go with a lower level seat for $67 a ticket.
In March the Canes have home games against Pittsburgh, Boston, and Washington. Those were about the only really exciting teams I saw. There are some earlier games vs the Rangers and Devils as well.
Also I called enterprise and it runs about $130 to rent a 15 passenger van for a day. It may be cheaper just to carpool with a few vehicles as the big van gets about 8 mpg. 3 vehicles could fit 12 people in theory so we could weigh our options there.
Let me know what you guys think. I would love to get a group together and represent Asheville @ the Canes game.

That reminds me of when you look at an expensive guitar or amp at a guitar store and they tell you not to turn it up too loud.
Just thinking out loud, but it seems that synthetic ice would be a cheaper and greener alternative to the real thing...but now that I have thought about it, I am not going to settle for anything less than a real 2 rink facility in the Asheville area.

I've never played on it, but I have tested skates on it. There's a store in the Raleigh area called FiveHole that has a small sheet of it for testing skates.

Synthetic Ice « Result #9 on Nov 8, 2009, 3:55pm »
OK so I was looking at some different companies online that sell synthetic plastic "ice" that requires no refrigeration and has a lifespan of 5-10 years.
You can google "synthetic ice" to see what I'm talking about.
Anyone have any experience with this stuff? I would be curious to see what it is like to skate on one of these rinks.
